our dreams for the future.

Bodmin Then and Now Group
The Roots and Routes project uncovered a desire to talk about Bodmin’s recent past; how things used to be. Those regular conversations created a likeminded community which in turn formed the Bodmin Then & Now Group.
Meeting monthly, facilitated by Chris and Sylvia, administrated by Jayne, and fueled by tea and biscuits, this group comes together to continue the work of identifying the ‘who, what, where and when’ of the thousands of George Ellis photos held in the collection at the Kresen Kernow archive.
“Before my Mother died she got rid of everything, including all her old photos. I don’t have any keepsakes so it’s wonderful to come here and share memories with other Bodmin people.”
Established at The Old Library, the group membership grew too big for us to accomodate and so now, you can find the group at The Shire House Suite on the third Friday of the month.
Roots & Routes Exhibtion
On the 15th June 2025 The Old Library held a week long exhibition to celebrate the Roots & Routes project. The building, itself a legacy of the great Cornish philanthropist John Passmore Edwards, was filled with sound, image, story, and conversation. Every room told a different part of Bodmin’s story: the walls lined with photographs, zines to leaf through, sounds to explore, and films to experience.
From the 5th August - 6th Sept 2025, the exhbition moved to Kresen Kernow, Cornwall’s archive.
“It’s not just an exhibition, it’s a celebration. Of memory and imagination. Of heritage and possibility. Of Bodmin’s past, present, and future, as told by the people who live it.”
